Houjicha is a Bancha that has been roasted over charcoal. It has a distinctive woodsy flavor with tones of green underneath. The liquor has a medium honey hue and provides a heartiness that coffee converts appreciate.

I am normally a lapsong souchong (sp) drinker and often bored by green teas. Yet Houjicha is the green tea for lovers of full, smoky teas such as lapsong - Houjicha is, although an almost trite term, robust. Enjoy!
