Chinese tea Brick
I, too, bought this to drink. I've been buying brick tea for many years, but in the last several years, none was to be had. Most brick tea is the Pu-Erh variety, which is most popular in the regions above 12,000 feet. This tea has to be simmered at high elevations, because of the low boiling point of water there. This tastes like typical Pu-Erh, with a smoky undertone. Pu-Erh is aged and has vintages, with some years considered better than other. I don't read Chinese, so I don't know the year this was grown, but it's likely in the text on the front of the brick. I ended up using a plumbing wrench to break off a corner, the brick is really tough.
