Black tea, or fully oxidized tea, is made from the same plant as green and white teas, camilla sinensis, but is processed differently. Black teas are traditionally produced from one of two varietals, camilla seninsis seninsis or camilla seninsis assamica. Referred to as 'red tea' in most of Asia, referencing the color of the liquor, it is called black tea in the West in reference to the dry leaf color. In China, black tea refers to a pu-erh. Check out our selection here. Black tea can be processed to have a variety of flavors, from a sweet, smooth cup, to a more malty and bracing cup, much depends on the terroir in which the tea was grown and methods used during drying and processing. Black teas are grown all over Asian, including China, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, and Georgia. More recently, tea has begun to be produced in Kenya, Malawai, and other, less traditional locations.

Ingredients: Black tea from China.

I am really enjoying my sample of this tea. I don't know if I can add very much to what has been said in other reviews, but I will echo the toasty notes mentioned. Very distinctive and smooth. It's a nice afternoon or after dinner sip for me, with (or withot) milk.
Pleasing to the last drop!

My favorite teas have always been hearty China black teas. Royal Yunnan is a full bodied tea with a rich chocolate theme and a satisfying smooth finish. It accepts milk well. For novice tea drinkers who wonder where the description "chocolate" comes from in describing tea flavor, it can best be explained by the impact the tea has on an individual's taste bud receptors that respond favorably to dark chocolate. For me, Royal Yunnan leaves the same satisfying response that I have to high cocoa content dark chocolate. It makes a great morning brew!

The description of this tea says it all. Wonderfully rich and roasty, it's fun to share this with friends who love tea. Good finish to a nice meal, and also a good morning cup. Love this one. Roma S., Omaha
