Description

Satemwa Estate in Malawi Africa is one of our featured non-traditional regions for tea production.  Their care in picking and producing fine teas has been evident year over year.

This is one of their unique offerings- an oolong tea.  The production method is different from traditional Chinese and Taiwanese practices.  This is partially oxidized to bring out a depth of complexity in the cup. You will notice a lightness on the tongue, yet it has plenty of body and bright fruity notes.  Take a look at the leaves, and you will see plenty of budsets indicating the care taken in this small-batch hand made tea

Insider Tip: This is also great enjoyed GongFu Style, or served in a Gaiwan.

Learn More:
Oolong teas are commonly known as partially oxidized because the oxidation allowed in processing varies between that of a green tea and that of a black. Varying between 30-70% oxidation, oolongs are produced into two main varieties: a darker, open-leafed style (such as our Rock teas), and a greener, rolled-ball style (such as our Jade Oolong). Darker oolongs tend to have a soft, fruity character with undertones of stone fruit. Greener oolongs offer a more green infusion with a more floral character.
