Product Description

A true treasure in every sense of the word! Fine Pouchong leaves are scented with jasmine blooms, then rolled into pearls that unfurl in your cup. These slender green leaves produce their entrancing aroma for three, four, five infusions.

Insider Tip: To get the most out of your pearls, start with shorter infusions and increase the length of each subsequent infusion. These hand-rolled pearls deserve to be savored!

Caffeine Level: Low.

Learn More:

Jasmine pearls, also known as Jasmine Dragon Pearls, is a green tea that originated in the Fujian Province of China. Traditional jasmine tea is made from fresh Pouchong leaves that are picked in the early spring and then stored until late summer when fresh jasmine flowers are in bloom. The jasmine tea is then hand-rolled to form pearls. The resulting flavor of jasmine tea is subtly sweet, highly fragrant and is perfect for multiple infusions. Be careful of cheap imitations! There are many grades of Jasmine Pearls that are of lower quality tea and craftsmanship. These will look dull, a bit rough, and less tightly rolled. While less expensive, you can really taste the difference.

Ingredients: Green tea and jasmine flowers.

Treasure! Aroma! Unfurling! Multiple infusions! Yes! For this tea, I heat my water to the lowest "green tea" setting on my electric kettle, then pour it through the air from a height back and forth 3 times into another pitcher. This cools and oxygenates the water before pouring it over the "pearls." Then I only steep for 2 minutes. (I get 6 infusions from same teaspoon of pearls.) I like to mix this very smooth liqueur with refrigerated filtered water and drink it by the liter all day instead of plain water. Great for hydrating during exercise, giving a very slight caffeine kick.

Jasmine green tea has been my uncontested favorite since a friend brought me some from Formosa as a teenager. Since then I've searched high and low for it, finding that most sources are little more than green tea spritzed with bitter, solvent-saturated jasmine essence for aroma. This is the real deal: smooth and very aromatic with none of the bitter solvent aftertaste. That alone is worth the premium price in my opinion; being able to stretch this tea to an acceptable third infusion is an added bonus.

I keep a supply of these at my office. The 1st infusion is lovely, the second very good, and the 3rd and 4th eminently acceptable. It lasts me a whole morning. I have purchased lots of jasmine tea, and this is my favorite. The pearls are tight and cleanly wrapped, and the flavor is very even, not seaweed with a jasmine overlay.

Jasmine is absolutely delightful. The pearls are kinda fun, but the taste and aroma make this tea well worth the extra expense.
